Indiana Blade Tour & Naptown Street Jam Recap

After months of preparation and hard work the Indiana Blade Tour and Naptown Street Jam have finally concluded.  It was a super long week full of tricks, clips, antics, drama, fruit snacks, tambourines, safety meetings, and camping but we did it!

Considering how much filming went down over the course of the week (over 4 - 5 different cameras), it will take us some time to get all of the footage together.  BUT, as soon as it's all acquired, I will be making a full length video documenting our entire trip.  Until that time, I'm going to just post some photos from the tour and comp below to give you an idea of what we experienced.  Words can only go so far in describing the biggest week in Indiana Blading History.  Enjoy!

THANK YOU!

I want to wholeheartedly thank everyone who was involved in making this tour and contest a reality.  From organizers, to those who came on the tour, to those who simply came out to the comp or tour to hang out.  Without you ALL, this would not have happened.  Specifically I want to call a few people out as well.

Jake Walker:  You were the inspiration for making this tour happen and you stayed on it the whole time.  You kept your cool (for the most part) and let a bunch of smelly rollerbladers stay at your place multiple nights.  A big thanks to Colleen for putting up with us as well.  Also Leeroy and your cat for being super cool.

Kyle Vice:  You also kept your cool the entire time even though you were doing the majority of the annoying work on the tour.  You drove the van the whole time, you were our treasurer, and you were always working your magic in the background ensuring the tour was running smoothly.  We couldn't have done it without you bud.  We all look forward to what you will continue to bring to the Indiana blading scene.

Eric Foust:  You were also huge in the preparation and day to day management of the tour.  You did the Indiegogo campaign pretty much on your own and you did an amazing job with the writing on said campaign.  You let us crash at your house to start the tour and you also have a badass dog and cat combo (STRYYYKAAAAAA!!!).  We are lucky to have you as a blader and as a professional adult.  Thanks again for all of your help!

Add Sinchai of Sinchai Dental:  Add used to blade back in the day and he is an amazing person (and also my personal dentist).  Add donated $150 to the tour just to support us.  That's pretty amazing, all we did was put his logo on the van.  We owe you one buddy.  If you don't have a dentist, give Add a call.

Christian Macon:  You got hurt way too early but you were such a great sport.  You helped film, you chilled, and you supported whoever needed some juice.  You gave Dwight a great run for his money on the "Too Easy" fanny pack award too.  Super glad you decided to stick it out and finish the tour!

Tim Schmidt:  Thanks for giving us a really cool place to crash in Lafayette.  Also thanks for letting us skate your rad new rails and for the constant safety meetings to make sure we were all on track.

Kaltik "Too Easy" Fanny Pack Winner:
Dwight Harding

Dwight kept his cool the entire tour and comp, skated great, and also helped out Tim A TON with the taking down and transportation of the Muncie Skatepark ramps (after they went out of business in the middle of the tour).  Unfortunately Dwight lost his fanny pack so if you have seen it please contact someone from Indiana Inline to get that badass piece of blade apparel to the rightful owner.

And last but certainly not least, I want to thank all of our amazing sponsors.  Please keep these companies in mind when you go to make your next blading purchase.  Our sport is so small right now...we have to support the companies that support us back.  We gave out probably over $1,000 worth of product during the contest/tour.

Indiana Inline Presents: The 2015 Indiana Blade Tour

Years and years of blading in Indiana has finally led to this amazing moment.  The 2015 Indiana Blade Tour!  What started as an idea from when Indiana Inline was first conceived was brought back to life by Jake Walker (Legendary Indianapolis blader) and Andy Wegener, the owner of Sunshine Distribution (Razors, Remz, GC, Jug, etc.).

I was pitching sponsorship to Andy for another rendition of the Naptown Blade Tour.  For anyone unfamiliar, the Naptown Blade Tour was a contest we threw in 2013 where we went to four different skateparks in the Indianapolis area in one day.  After Andy saw the email he was incredibly excited to get involved because he thought it was an actual tour.  Even after telling him that it was just an Indianapolis tour, he was still very supportive of sponsoring the contest.  I ended up talking to Jake Walker about the conversation between Andy and I, and everything changed instantly.  Jake feverishly started messaging practically everyone in the state in an attempt to get the tour to happen.  Within minutes it was decided that the tour was happening no matter what, even though I thought there wouldn't be enough time, money, etc.  All of this happened about two weeks ago so it is completely insane how far we have come on the planning and organization of this event.  I want to whole heartedly thank everyone that has been involved in any way with the planning and organization of this event so far and in the future.  I could not and will not accomplish this on my own.  Having said all of this, lets get down to the nitty gritty.

The Indiana Blade Tour will start on Monday July 6th and will conclude on Saturday July 11th in Indianapolis for a Street contest called the Naptown Street Jam (see full schedule below).  The contest is $10 to enter.  Inline Warehouse is offering a $50 gift card for the best trick at the contest and we have TONS of product to give away.  Seriously, TONS.  Additionally, Top Level Society will be giving $100 cold hard cash for the best trick on the actual tour.

The tour will feature some of the best bladers Indiana has to offer including Tim Schmidt, Tanner Tyree, Eric Foust, Tyler Ailes, Christian Macon, Austin Loomis, and many others.  Plain and simply, if you live in Indiana or anywhere close to it, you should make it out to at least one stop on the tour.  We will be hitting all of the best spots and parks in every city we stop at and the more people that can share this experience with us the better!  Since we are posting the full schedule, ANYONE is more than welcome to accompany us for part of or the entire tour (in your own vehicle).  This tour will be huge for our constantly growing skate scene so make sure you are involved in some way.  This is for YOU!

UPDATE: The tour has been funded with over $1,500 raised including money contributed after the campaign ended!!!  A HUGE thank you to everyone that contributed and to all of our amazing sponsors!

On a final note before the schedule below, please check out our Indigogo campaign and contribute towards the cause.  Van rentals are insanely expensive and we are trying to subsidize the cost as much as we can.  Not to mention the cost of renting a skatepark, food, lodging, etc.  We are offering TONS of amazing gifts for contributions so it's a win win.  Please let me know if you have any questions (on the facebook group) and be on the lookout for more updates as we get closer to the start of the tour!

Check out the official Indiana Inline Facebook page and New Facebook Group

The blog, as you may have noticed is not updated very often anymore.  Everyone has been taking advantage of the new facebook group so you can post your pics, videos, session or contest info, trades, and whatever else you need.

The official page will still be used for sharing media, contest, session, and/or event info.  The group will just simply make it easier for anyone to be able to share with better visibility so check it out if you haven't already.

The 1st Ever (2013) Naptown Blade Tour - Results and Summary

The 1st ever Naptown Blade Tour is in the books after 9 hours of competing and travelling throughout the city! I would like to give a HUGE thanks to EVERYONE that came out for the event and all of the sponsors (Top Level Society, Razors, Inline Warehouse, E-Rolling, Roller Warehouse, Eulogy, Remz, and Aggressive Mall). Thanks to Ryan Benner for helping judge and for this photo that I stole from your facebook page. Also, thanks to Sarah Andrews, Tim Schmidt, Andrew Thompson, Chris Timmerding, Owen Nevins, Jeremy Adamowicz, and probably some other people I'm forgetting for helping with other random things throughout the comp.

Considering the success from this year...there will most likely be another blade tour to look forward to next year. Also, look forward to an edit from the contest from Aaron Schultz. Without further adieu...I present the results of the 2013 Naptown Blade Tour.
